West Bend HS sports update: East football loses to Bay, West boys cross country second at Laser Relays
West Bend East football lost to Whitefish Bay on Sept. 24, 28-0. Whitefish Bay scored a touchdown in each quarter. Bay’s defense limited West Bend East to 89 yards in passing and 100 totally yards rushing.
Whitefish Bay was led by Nigel Cheeks, who ran 18 times for 138 yards; and Sean Callahan, who ran 13 times for 108 yards.
The loss dropped East’s record to 0-4 in the North Shore Conference and 1-5 overall.
East is scheduled to play West Bend West in the homecoming game for both schools on Oct. 1. West’s game against Homestead on Sept. 24 was canceled after West’s football program entered COVID-19 protocols.
West Bend East cross country results
The West Bend East varsity boys cross country team finished eighth at the Len Nicolai Invitational held in Manitowoc on Sept. 25. East was led by Thomas Conklin, who finished 13th with a time of 16:59.1.
The East girls team finished 13th in their race. Alexis Gugliotti led the Suns by finishing 31st with a time of 21:20.4.
West Bend West cross country results
The West Bend West boys cross country team finished second at the Peter Nielsen Laser Relays at Nagawaukee Park in Delafield on Sept. 25. The meet was broken down into two separate races, with the top four runners from each team in one race and the five through eight runners in another race. The scores from the two races were combined into a final team score.
West was led by Sam Schreiber, who finished 11th in the main race with a time of 17:13.8.
In the girls race, West finished eighth. West was led by Sarah Roemer, who finished 18th with a time of 20:55.5
