As the weather takes a turn for the worse, a Teesside cinema is inviting customers to tuck up for the day and spend it enjoying a run of feelgood festive films in an extra-early Christmas treat – two whole months early to be exact.
On October 23, Showcase Cinema de Lux will be hosting four back-to-back seasonal favourites, saying: “We’re looking forward to a busy day of Christmas fun in the middle of October.”
And in keeping with the season of goodwill the chain is offering tickets for just £5 a film.

The four festive classics it has chosen to be shown on the big screen are Elf featuring Will Ferrell as one of Santa’s helpers lost in the big city; heartwarming 1946 classic It’s A Wonderful Life starring James Stewart; the magical Polar Express with Tom Hanks, and Home Alone – the enduring favourite about how young Kevin McAllister outwits a pair of dim thieves over Christmas.
A spokesman for the Stockton-on-Tees cinema, said: “Each film will be available for just £5 a ticket, a steal even the Grinch would be proud of.”
Explaining the idea behind the extra-early Christmas treat, Mark Barlow, the UK general manager for Showcase Cinemas, said: “It’s been a tough time for everyone these past 18 months, so Showcase Cinemas wants to bring some early festive fun as we start the countdown to the most wonderful time of the year.
“We’ve brought Christmas forward a couple of months so everyone can start to get into the Christmas spirit.”
Tickets for the October 23 Christmas movies can be booked on theShowcase Cinemas website.
