Mayhem Athletics set off Sept. 25 to a national tournament in Denver with high hopes of coming home with some jewelry. Hard work pays off! Mayhem is beyond thrilled that a small team based in Lamar is making such a statement nationwide and taking titles.
The team is currently ranked No. 25 in the nation. With all the hard work and dedication these young wrestlers put in, they deserve all the recognition.
Mayhem is proud to announce the crowning of three National Champions from the tournament – Jaxyn Duran: champion of 6U 49, Kasseus Delarosa: champion of 10U 57, and 2X National Champion Joseph Gallegos: 8U 74.
Congratulations to all other wrestlers, including Peyton Jimenez (2nd), Braedyn Fernandez (4th), Jayman Duran (4th), Joaquin Duran (5th), Jayce Kisamore (6th), Johnathan Navarrette, and Breanna Gallegos.
For those unfamiliar with Mayhem Athletics, it is a nonprofit organization that launched its wrestling club with a single goal, and that was to offer a higher level of youth wrestling to the Southeastern Plains of Colorado. The wrestling program is designed to introduce the sport to all athletes, foster athletic and competitive growth, and instill a sense of pride, sportsmanship, and self-defense.
